Nancy Stirs The Pol Pot Part 2

Fresh from her ingenius observation that fewer people cost the Government less money than more people (apparently channeling Pol Pot, see my January 28 blog), Minister of Eugenics and alleged Catholic Nancy Pelosi flew to the Vatican for an audience with Pope Benedict.

Nancy figured she would straighten out Benny on his views about abortion.

But the Pope knows his catechism, um, kind of well. Even before his election to the papacy, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was the John Paul II's chief interpreter of Church theology as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. For 25 years!

In particular, Nancy has been saying in her San Francisco encyclical missives that The Church has argued "for centuries" about whether or not life begins at conception.

Um, no. There is no such debate today, and hasn't been since the advent of modern biological science, in which the Church played a proactive role.

From the Vatican today:

Pope Benedict “took the opportunity to speak of the requirements of the natural moral law and the Church’s consistent teaching on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death.”

The Pope continued that all Catholics, “especially legislators, jurists and those responsible for the common good of society,” should “work in cooperation with all men and women of good will in creating a just system of laws capable of protecting human life at all stages of its development.”

Thus admonished on Church teachings about abortion, Nancy's public statements on the meeting of these two great Catholic theologians (her and Benedict), thanked the Pope for his leadership on a variety of OTHER issues like "global warming".

She ought to know about global warming.

There's a whole lot of it being created by her regular coast-to-coast "Speaker Flights", as well as her verbal flatulence.

Did she actually think she would spin the Pope? The mind reels at the notion she thought she could out-Pope the Pope.

Nancy may wish to take note that the Church is not a bunch of statues, books, or Tom Hanks fiction. It is an institution for the furtherance of humankind's advancement to decency and perfection of charitable love for other people.

People.

People, Nancy.

It's about People. When people mate, the result is biologically more people. The embryos don't become cats or newts or even dolphins when left to full gestation.

No. They become Baby People.

And the entire time, all of the DNA code and chromosomes that individual will EVER HAVE is already contained within that Person right at the moment of conception.

Because that zygote is one of us from that moment forward. A part of us, the People.
